I was brought up in Philadelphia in a Jewish home. My family
was very religious. I went to Hebrew school, but never felt close
to God. Later in life I met a woman who was a Christian, whom
I married. I went to church with her one day. Soon after, a deacon
came to my door, but I sent him away. The deacon came back again.
He was persistent but showing a lot of love. He invited me back
to church again, and this time I went. He came back to my house
and started taking me through scriptures. I had never heard these
things before like the Old Testament pointing to Christ. I then
went to my rabbi because I felt that surely he would give me
the proper answers, but the rabbi was angry about my asking questions
like that and would not give me answers. He said he did not need
to do that. I went to the pastor of the church who went through
the bible with me, especially Isaiah 53 about Christ. I eventually
came to know the Lord as my personal savior.
When I was 14 years old, I got into martial arts. I would get
beat up because I was very small. I felt I needed to do something
about it. I became interested in karate which helped give me
confidence, I never really had to use it to defend myself.
When I got saved, the pastor said you do martial arts and he
encouraged me to share my testimony 16 children got saved
that day I saw the spirit of the Lord working on the children
and myself. I did it again and again and more and more children
and even their parents got saved. I realized the power of sharing
my testimony and have been sharing it ever since.
I then moved to Florida and went through a bad divorce. Ernie
Stevenson, the head of FCA, invited me to stay with him for a
short time, which ended up being almost a year. I had so much
anger and frustration. Ernie really helped my life go the right
way. He encouraged me to use my gifts and talents and share my
testimony through FCA and once again lives were saved and I could
really see God working, not me He was touching lives through
me. At that point, God turned my life around.
I keep a book I call "the miracle book" in which I
record God's miracles in my life for my two daughters. I remember
one incident when I got stuck at 1:00 am in the morning between
Perry and Tallahassee the road was deserted. I had no money
on me. A police officer came by and said a man just gave him
the money to help me. There was enough cash to get a hotel room
and my car towed and fixed. That just doesn't happen. This is
just one incident that showed me how much God really cares about
individuals, he cares about me and children. God is good.
