Retired Teacher Finds New Ministry

My prayer, as a retired school teacher, has been that God would lead me into volunteer service for His kingdom. I thank the Lord that He led me to the work of Child Evangelism Fellowship. It has been my privilege this past semester to work with the after-school Good News Club at Springwood Elementary. The children's hearts are so tender and they are so eager to learn and understand. As I saw these young people pray to receive Jesus and seek special prayer about situations in their lives, I was reminded of Jesus' words, "Suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of heaven".

I am greatly rejoicing and thanking God for this opportunity and hope to be involved with summer 5-Day Clubs and next fall with the after-school Good News Clubs in the local elementary schools. My church has already collected the money to adopt a school and we have the teaching team ready and trained to go. We are also using CEF materials to teach our children in the junior church.

Years ago, when I was in college, I went out with child evangelism teams into the neighborhoods of Spartenburg, SC and held Good News Clubs. The materials that we used then and those still available today have held to the truths of Jesus-that He was born, died, and rose again to pay for the penalty of our sin and make a way for us to have a home in heaven. The teachings of the Wordless Book are still going strong. My heart thrills to know that when so many other movements for God have strayed from the truth, CEF has held to the solid foundations and teachings of the Bible.
